Armored Cultivator Pot - "Perfect Root" Anchoring/"Soft-Bottom" Anchoring -. . . . . . . Wrack Protector
Helpful Information and Additional Services
Armored Cultivator Pot - In most high energy planting applications, red mangrove propagates are started in a protective foundation, similar to the concept of starting a garden seedling in a growing pot. For mangroves, the “pot” is made of a 5-10 year bio-degradable concrete with specific design features to accommodate “perfect root” anchoring, Wrack Protector , and Fert-Disc™ insert. The relief of the pot can be extended with additional Reef Ball bases, burlap lined and filled with soil, so that greater planting depths can be achieved, as accurate planting elevation is critical to successful mangrove planting. The system as been designed to protect the base of the young tree from desiccation, wave damage and submerged debris impacts. |

*MHW is “mean high water” and is defined as the average high tide.
** Prop roots of Red mangroves must be able to extend to the seafloor, so in most applications the distance between the top of the Wrack Protector and the seafloor (or "spread" ) should not exceed 6 feet (2 meters). If your application requires more than 6 feet (2 meters) of "spread" a shorter Wrack Protector and/or increased planting depth may be required, both of which increase the chance of planting failure. Large "spread" projects are technical in nature so please call us for more information.
Note: The armored cultivator pot base requires approximately 1 gallon (4 liters) of perlite free gardening soil or suitable local soil. A suitable soil must have enough course materials so that it is not prone to wash out through the tiny holes in the planter foundation or the burlap sack in the underlying Reef Ball bases (if used). High organic soil mixes are better.
